Live, work
and invest
in Bradford

Welcome

Dear candidate,

Thanks for your interest in joining us at Bradford Council.

As the UK’s youngest city, teeming with ambition, energy and enterprise, globally connected and home to one of the finest arrays of cultural assets in the country, Bradford offers opportunity, challenge and reward to exceptional leaders.

The UK City of Culture 2025, Bradford has a national reputation as one of the best places to start and grow a business and enjoys unmatched potential for clean and sustainable growth.

A pipeline of transformational developments are in progress and our plans for the city’s Southern Gateway will unlock a site three times the size of Canary Wharf.

Strong and effective partnerships have delivered outstanding results across the health and care system including award winning work with communities during the COVID pandemic. Collaboration is at the heart of our work to support people through the cost of living crisis.

Bradford plays an influential role in West Yorkshire Combined Authority ensuring that our £1.8bn devolution deal delivers for the District and region alike.

Home to over half a million people, Bradford’s challenges include job creation and business growth, tackling health inequalities and poverty, going further and faster on educational attainment and caring for a growing population.

We’re looking for talented, motivated people who can harness the District’s assets, resources and potential so we can accelerate the pace of change and realise our ambitions.

If you want to join us you’ll need to show that you can ensure we get the basics right, deliver the transformation needed to sustain and improve outcomes and position Bradford District as a place to live, work and invest.

We want someone who thinks big, sets high standards and lead high performing teams. Someone with inspirational communication skills who can work with business, public sector and community partners to create the conditions for sustainable growth, improved health and shared prosperity.

If this sounds like you and you want to work for one of the country’s most ambitious Councils in one of its biggest, most diverse, vibrant and enterprising cities then we’d love to hear from you.

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe,
Leader of the Council
